Homeland is one of The Legend of Drizzt novels that is going to be starting off this large and exciting series about the legendary Drizzt Do’Urden and this is the book that is going to introduce you to this character for the very first time. The story takes you to a place in the Realms known as Menzoberranzan, Drizzt’s homeland.

The second novel of Drizzt Do’Urden books is called Exile and the story continues directly after the first book as Drizzt is now in the Underdark, a terrible place filled with evil and dark creatures and a place where definitely no one would like to stay in unless forced.
Drizzt is one of those who has nowhere else to go as he has abandoned his house for reasons that you find out in the first Drizzt Do’Urden novel and the only one to keep him company is his faithful magic panther, Guenhwyvar.
You get to find out that these times are definitely not happy ones in Drizzt’s life but the story gets better for him later on. For the time being, he has a lot of things to deal with and he also has to find a better life for himself.
Something that the next book is going to discuss. If you are interested in reading those amazing books, do not skip the Drizzt Do’Urden book order at the end of our article. We also need to mention, that you can find more info about this book in our review of The Dark Elf trilogy.
The next book in this review is the last of The Dark Elf Trilogy and the book that takes our favorite hero Drizzt to the surface world where everything is new and nothing is the same as the underground world where he has spent most of his life.
He has spent a whopping 40 years in the Underdark and it is finally time to look for something better. At first, the surface world is not at all hospitable considering his race as dark elves are not exactly welcome in many places on the surface. His journey then takes him to Icewind Dale where he meets a band of heroes with whom a magical friendship will be born.
The next book starts off The Icewind Dale trilogy which is still a part of the larger Drizzt series and the story in this book is just as exciting as the rest of Drizzt Do’Urden novels. Take a look at our article about the top Forgotten Realms books, if you want to find out more.
After moving to Icewind Dale, Drizzt is still not fully accepted but at least he has his friends to make him feel welcome. Drizzt currently spends his days roaming the tundra and fighting off giants and yeti that threaten the people of Ten Towns.
One day, Drizzt spots an invasion attempt on Ten Towns and immediately heads home to warn everyone of what is about to come. A huge and exciting battle soon begins in which you get to read about many thrilling surprises. You get to find out if the dwarves manage to defend their home or if everything will be for nothing. This next story in The Legend of Drizzt books follows directly after the events of The Crystal Shard and this time, the dwarf Bruenor is leading his friends Regis the Halfling, Wulfgar the barbarian, and dark elf Drizzt Do’Urden on a quest to reclaim Mithral Hall, the ancestral home of his people.
Along the way, a new character gets introduced into the story and one that you will definitely be seeing a lot from in the following Drizzt Do’Urden books of this review.
This new character is known by the name Artemis Entreri and as the greatest assassin in all of Faerûn. He has been sent by Pasha Pook to retrieve the Crystal Shard, a powerful artifact that was stolen from him by Regis. This book can be found on our list of the best Forgotten Realms novels as well!
After some very exciting events that took place in the previous Drizzt Do’Urden books, Regis is now held captive and his friends Drizzt and Wulfgar race to Calimport, Artemis Entreri’s home, to go and rescue him. To learn more, check out our article about The Icewind Dale trilogy, that this book is part of.
In the meantime, it was presumed that Bruenor died in the last book but that is not the case as he managed to survive and now with the help of Lady Alustriel, he is able to get up back on his feet again and go help his friends before it is too late.
In a Rush
After our favorite heroes catch up with each other, they rush for Pasha Pook’s palace to save their friend, and the events that take place there will definitely be ones to remember as you will get to find out all about it for yourself as you get to Drizzt Do’Urden books. We also covered this book in our review of the best R. A. Salvatore novels.
This book ends the previous trilogy from the series of Drizzt Do’Urden books and starts a new one, The Legacy of the Drow, in which you learn a lot more about the legendary dark elf Drizzt Do’Urden and much more about the characters around him as well.
This story begins as you get to read about the wedding between Wulfgar and Catti-brie. You get to see these characters get tense, especially Wulfgar who becomes eccentric and highly possessive of everything and everyone around him.
A new character also gets added to this story, his name is Thibbledorf Pwent and he pledges fealty to Bruenor after he saves his life in battle. There are many interesting events that follow in this book, many feuds between old enemies, fights with new enemies, and so much more.
The next book is Starless Night, the second book of the Legacy of the Drow series and eighth in the larger Drizzt Do’Urden books. The story in this book follows Drizzt as he decides to finally return to his childhood home in Menzoberranzan in order to try and prevent another terrible drow attack on Mithral Hall.
Drizzt’s quest first takes him to the terrible Underdark deep in the city of gnomes where he stays for several days. Catt-brie, his friend, decides to follow Drizzt on his journey as she is worried that he might get into trouble so she soon arrives in the Underdark as well.
The coming events manage to bring Drizzt into a lot of danger as he gets captured and luckily, Catt-brie will be near and hopes to rescue him. It’s up to you to find out whether they get to safety or even worse things follow.
Siege of Darkness continues the story of Drizzt Do’Urden books and tells you of a time in the Forgotten Realms when all magic is disrupted for some reason and most of the gods are forced to walk among the mortals in avatars of their own choosing. Drizzt and the company will also be affected by all of this and here is how.
Saving the Day
Many evil beings will try to use this time of chaos as an advantage for their evil and selfish plans and it will be up to our heroes to save the day and make sure the Realms don’t fall into the wrong and evil hands.
This story in Legend of Drizzt books takes you a bit into the future as this story takes place six years after the events in the book before. The story follows Drizzt, of course, and Catti-brie as they go on another adventure. This time, they will be going out on sea with the company of Captain Deudermont, the captain of the ship they are on, called Sea Sprite.
This ship is actually a very feared force in the Sword Coast thanks to the powerful crew that is on board. This is also the final book of The Legacy of the Drow series and the one in which you get to read about another thrilling adventure that involves many enemies, deceitful events, and so much more.
The next book we have in our review is The Silent Blade and the first book of the Paths of Darkness series. This one is also the eleventh book in the large Drizzt Do’Urden series and another wonderful adventure waits to be read again.
The book follows the character known as the wild barbarian Wulfgar. He has finally seen freedom after many years in the Abyss and is having a rough time coping with what has just happened. Many exciting events await on Wulfgar’s road ahead and you also get to see the greatest assassin in Faerûn, Artemis Entreri, make another exciting appearance in this book as well.
The next book is one that will be showing you a story about Wulfgar and a friend of his known by the name Morik the Rogue. The story follows these two characters as they are in the middle of being convicted for a crime that they say was not committed by them.
This crime that everyone is talking about is the attempted murder of Captain Deudermont. A series of unfortunate events seem to be happening to Wulfgar one by one as, after their exile, his mighty Warhammer known as Aegis Fang has been stolen and sold to a notorious pirate.
Will Wulfgar manage to get his life back together or will things keep getting worse, that’s something that only you can find out as you read further. Take a look at our Paths of Darkness series review, if you want to learn more.
The story directly continues in this book as this time you get to read about Drizzt and his friends as they are on a mission together that involves getting back Wulfgar’s Aegis Fang, a weapon of great power.
They reunite with Wulfgar after saving his new wife, Delly Curtie, from being murdered in Waterdeep and continue their search for the Warhammer.
After some tracking, they locate the pirate who bought the sword when it was stolen and this pirate, known as Sheila Kree, has used the power of the Aegis Fang to become a feared character among the lands. An exciting battle follows in the coming events and that’s something that you definitely won’t want to miss out on. Now, let’s move further with our list of Drizzt Do’Urden book list.
Servant of the Shard is the 14th book following our Legend of Drizzt book order and the first book of Salvatore’s The Sellswords series. The book opens with a character we all know, the greatest assassin in all of Faerûn, Artemis Entreri himself.
It follows this man as he has finally regained his will to live after a series of certain events that you read all about in the previous Drizzt Do’Urden books and now his mission is to make his name known once again as the greatest assassin ever. The road ahead will reunite him with the mercenary Jarlaxle and a new and powerful alliance will be born. While all of this is going on, Jarlaxle is in the possession of the Crystal Shard and the powerful artifact is finally beginning to mess with his mind.
You will be reading about Artemis and Jarlaxle in this book too as the story here follows directly after the events that took place in the previous one.
These two characters now leave their old past and focus on accomplishing new things. They are both mercenaries now and their new mission is to find powerful artifacts left behind the Witch King Zhengyi.
This mission is given to them by the two dragon sisters, Ilnezhara and Tazmikella. This is the start of another thrilling adventure in which you get to observe many surprises and unexpected events on the road that these two characters are about to go on. Do not forget, that you can find the Drizzt Do’Urden books in order at the end of this article.
This book is the final episode of The Sellswords trilogy and in it, you get to read about Artemis and Jarlaxle one more time as their story together is not yet over. There are many things that take place in the prequel and most of those things connect here, so it’s a good idea to read all of these books one by one if you are to understand the entire story.
Artemis begins dating Calihye briefly before realizing that she only wants to kill him as she blames him for the death of a dear friend to her. Meanwhile, Jarlaxle has managed to take control over Castle Perilous before a giant army commanded by King Gareth himself ruins his plans. So many more exciting events like these await to be read by you in the following pages and Drizzt Do’Urden books.
The story in this 17th novel of The Legend of Drizzt books follows a massive army composed of a clan of frost giants and many orcs that are led by the orc King Obould Many-Arrows as they are about to launch a massive attack against the towns of the North. This book is also part of The Sundering series, that you can learn more about in our review.
It Gets Worse
If you think that all of this is bad, wait until you find out that four very devious and clever drow are plotting behind everyone’s backs for their own selfish needs. Drizzt is in the middle of all this and he believes that he sees his friends, the Companions of the Hall, die, and out of anger, he focuses only on killing and slaughtering as many orcs as he possibly can. If you are interested in this book, check out our article about The Hunter’s Blades trilogy.
The next book in our review talks about Drizzt again as he still can’t believe that he saw his friends get killed. Drizzt feels lost, without a will to live or a sense of purpose and things only start getting a bit better for him after an encounter with two elves and their two pegasi.
Far from Over
After these characters help Drizzt get back on his feet, there is still a huge battle to get back to as the fight against the orcs is far from over. You get to see a few dear characters lose their lives, others badly injured, and even more fun and thrill than before. We spoiled a little bit more about this book in our review of The Hunter’s Blades trilogy, so make sure to check it out.
The Two Swords is finally going to reveal to you how this long and devastating battle versus the huge army of orcs finally ends. The story opens as you read about how Obould, the orc King, has managed to press Drizzt and his friends to the gates of Mithral Hall. Things are definitely not looking for them and they are running out of options.
You get to see a brilliant plan by Bruenor and his clan as the last attempt to push the orcs back and try to save a few lives. A huge surprise awaits Drizzt as well in this story and that surprise is going to be the highlight of this story. If you want to read the Drizzt Do’Urden books in publication order, check out our list at the end of this review.
The Orc King is a novel that starts a whole new trilogy within this larger series of Drizzt Do’Urden books and the name of this trilogy is Transitions series. A thrilling and very important thing to know about this book is that the events in it actually take place an entire century after the events in the previous book, The Two Swords.
You get to read a lot about Drizzt again but also about the orcs and their leader, Obould Many-Arrows. There will be many old characters to see again in this story and you get to see a few of them meet their demise which is definitely unfortunate but an important part of the story.
The next in the trilogy is The Pirate King and this is the 21st novel of the entire Legend of Drizzt books and in our review. Captain Deudermont will be reappearing in this thrilling book and you get to see a whole new side of this brave character. He has finally seen an opportunity to take back the lost city of Luskan as The Arcane Brotherhood has managed to slip and allow themselves to appear vulnerable.
Taking Back the City

This is the 23rd volume on our list of the best Drizzt books and it is the first novel in the Neverwinter Saga series. The story in Gauntlgrym begins in the year 1409 DR and it initially takes place in the vast halls of the dwarven home of Mithral Hall.
We don’t want to spoil exactly what goes on in this story but you will be reading about a lot of tragedies that the famed characters are about to experience.
King Bruenor Battlehammer

Following directly after the events of Gauntlgrym, the story follows Drizzt and Dahlia now as they are currently somewhere in the wilderness and are planning for a way to return to Neverwinter.

Next in our review, we have the 25th book by R. A. Salvatore on our list of Legend of Drizzt books and the third in the Neverwinter Saga. The year in which this story begins is 1463 DR and the first event that takes place is an important meeting of the Xorlarrin House of Menzoberranzan.
Drizzt and Dahlia are going to be the main characters to carry out this story as well as they still haven’t returned to Neverwinter and the new dangers that are about to appear are definitely going to spoil their plans once more.
And the last book in the Neverwinter Saga series and one of the Drizzt Do’Urden books is this one, the novel in which you find out what happens to Charon’s Claw and what course Drizzt and his companions will take now.
Drizzt is determined to find his missing magical panther Guenhwyvar and after that, he asks his companions to take them to Port Llast and help him rebuild it.
A devastating series of events await in the pages ahead and these events are definitely not going to be good for Drizzt and his friends. While they go to rescue his panther at Draygo Quick’s home, a few of them are captured and remain prisoners for nearly one whole year until they are rescued. This book can be also found in our review of Neverwinter Saga. Make sure to check it out!
The Companions is a part of another series as well but it is a stand-alone book in Legend of Drizzt series and the story inside focuses mostly on Drizzt and the Companions of the Hall.
After a series of devastating events, Drizzt discovers that the goddess Mielikki has decided to give Catti-brie, Bruenor, Regis, and Wulfgar their lives back as they are reborn as children but with the same memories as before their deaths. While all of this is happening and the children are finding their way to Drizzt, three dark characters are beginning to cause a lot of trouble across the Realms.
Now that the Companions of the Hall have finally been restored, Drizzt decides to go with them to Gauntlgrym to attempt the rescue of their friend Thibbledorf Pwent, Bruenor’s loyal shield dwarf who has unfortunately turned into a vampire. This book is part of the Companions Codex series, that you can read more about in our review.
Won’t Be Easy
However, they will soon discover that this quest will not be as simple as they had planned as unexpected enemies manage to cross their path and force unwanted actions. Their road will take them first through the dark paths of the Underdark where no one has traveled once without getting into some kind of trouble. Let’s now move on to other Legend of Drizzt books.
Rise of the King is the second book in R. A. Salvatore’s series, called Companions Codex, and it is the 29th The Legend of Drizzt book.
In this story, you follow the Companions, of course, as a terrible event known to all as the Darkening is spreading all across the land and the treacherous drow have managed to cause a lot of trouble again as they force even more characters to go to war.
This time, they play their cards to incite the frost giants of the Shining White and two white dragons, Arauthator and Aurbangras, to go to war against The Silver Machines together with the orcs of Many-Arrows.
The story in this Drizzt Do’Urden book manages to separate the Companions of the Hall once more as they are currently in the middle of a war that is so big that it is beginning to affect the entire land of Faerûn.
Out of Control
At first, they fight for the safety of Mithral Hall but events get to become bigger and more serious as this war gets out of control and danger starts coming from all sides. You get to read separate stories about each of the characters from the Companions as they are all currently in the middle of some tricky situations.
Archmage is the first book of Salvatore’s trilogy called Homecoming. In this book, you get to read about a story that ends one terrible event and begins a whole new other.
The story follows the ending of the massive war that almost destroyed so much in Faerûn and although everything is peaceful now, Drizzt and the companions know what kind of evil lurks in the darkness and what kind of potential it has.
Drizzt also knows that there are many enemies who are not done with him yet and when one of those enemies is desperate enough to call upon some very dark demonic forces, the world comes in terrible danger once more. Do not skip the end of the review if you are interested in reading The Legend of Drizzt books in order.
Maestro is one of The Legend of Drizzt books that tells you about a terrible series of events that have struck the land of Menzoberranzan.

Timeless is the first book of the last trilogy in the top Drizzt books and you are finally getting near the end of this enormous series in which so much has happened. This story follows a character who earned a worthy reputation while all of the madness was going on in the Underdark and in the city of Menzoberranzan.
This character whom we speak of is a weapons master who would then be a very important topic among the matrons and the great nobles. The two most important characters whom this story will be following are Jarlaxle and Zaknafein and there are many surprises to be discovered along the way.
The second book in the Generations series and one of The Legend of Drizzt books will be talking about the past again as you get to know more about Drizzt’s father, Zaknafein. He perished a long time ago but now, for some unknown reason, he has come back to life after a century of being dead.
Back to Life
This is the story of Zaknafein as he wonders a world totally unknown to him as so much has changed after he died and came back to life again. The story takes you to many different places and lets you meet exciting and interesting characters.
